In an effort to reduce the community's carbon footprint and promote access to fresh vegetables, The Tiny Fields Project uses boulevards and alley space to teach growing vegetables and spread an understanding of the complexity of agriculture and food systems.
Each participating household receives a kit with enough seed and seedlings to plant an approximately 5’ x 11’ space, volunteer help tilling soil the first season and instructions on how to plant and maintain their field in a sustainable manner. Families then follow along on social media and learn as their garden grows.
As the gardeners spend time in their community spaces, it provides new opportunities to connect neighbor to neighbor.
